My friend Patrick had a terrible experience on New Years Day when he was sold watered-down gas at the Sunoco station at the Delaware Travel Plaza. After having to pay more than $1,400 to get the water pumped out of his gas tank, he still has had no success getting Sunoco to provide any support, or even admit responsibility. If you can reblog this post, like or comment on his photo on their facebook page, or choose to take your fuel business elsewhere, I know Patrick will appreciate it.

Sunoco - you sold me water instead of gas January 1 at the Delaware rest stop on I-95. Your negligence cost me $1472.26 in repairs and car rental, but you refuse to accept responsibility. I have all the documentation for mileage, location, payment, and repairs. I even have a fuel sample! Take a look at the photo and you’ll see the water on the bottom. My dealer took 11.5 gallons of your contaminated fuel out of my car and you won’t do the right thing. Is this how you treat your customers? #NoGoSunoco

shortformblog:

A pair of Wisconsin parents took a decidedly modern approach toward punishing their daughter when she misbehaved recently: They confiscated her phone and used it to take several photos of themselves doing silly faces, which they subsequently uploaded to her Facebook page.

The best, worst parents ever.

This time 15 years ago, I was an 18-year old, about to embark on my journey as a Georgetown Hoya. Little did I know how long that journey would last!
And thanks to JanMichaelDC for bringing up this photo, from the freshman facebook… for the youngsters out there, this is what we relied on before Zuckerberg came along.

Now You Can Share Your Organs on Facebook

“Starting today, you can add that you’re an organ donor to your timeline, and share your story about when, where or why you decided to become a donor,” wrote Zuckerberg and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg in an ABC posting this morning. “If you’re not already registered with your state or national registry and want to be, you’ll find a link to the official donor registry there as well.”
Read more at The Atlantic Wire.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this, but I guess if it encourages more organ donors, it’s a net positive.

A world without facebook?

The Social Network 2 (Official Trailer) (by nicepieceproductions)

Pretty funny, and a just a bit thought-provoking.

H/t: Steve Okey, of course

world-shaker:

So Mark Zuckerberg, you know, the CEO of the world’s largest social network, dropped in to do a surprise lecture for some students at Stanford.
And some kid is STILL surfing Facebook during class (lower left).

In this case, does it count as topical research?

Forget the film Six Degrees of Separation, a new study from Facebook and the University of Milan has shown that people in the world are better connected that ever before, with users of the social network now connected by less than five contacts.

The study, which used data taken from Facebook’s 721 million active shows, shows that any two people on the site are on average separated by just 4.74 intermediate connections

Where In The World People Do Not Use Facebook
infoneer-pulse:

To create the UnFacebook map, visual arts grad student Ian Wojtowicz mashed the Facebook connections map with NASA’s map of Earth at night. The blackened areas show heavy Facebook usage, and the brightest yellow specks represent places where people do not use Facebook. Judging from the yellow on the map, those areas appear to be the Eastern most point of Brazil, the Eastern part of China, most of Japan, South Korea, the tip of Gabon, a tiny portion of Canada, random areas of Russia and parts of the Middle East, specifically Iraq, Syria, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
