Weekend Highlights: Friday started with Bike to Work Day and after a busy day in the office, concluded with mojitos (mint being the first bounty of this year’s back porch herb garden).  Saturday, Hugo woke up in a great mood, and was even happier to see bunnies and sheep at the farmers market.  I took a long bike ride to Mt. Vernon with friends, then got home to catch Liz and the end of the Georgetown SFS graduation. Graduates included one of the Jack the Bulldog mascots (or at least his feet), and Hugo met some of his many adoring fans.

It’s nice to be married to an awesome professor during “thank you season.” We had homemade coffee cake for breakfast this morning, and cupcakes from both Baked and Wired and Georgetown Cupcake for dessert tonight!

The cherry blossoms have passed, but there are still some great flowering trees blooming in DC, including the redbuds in the first photo, three other trees that I have yet to identify a dogwood in the third, and Kwanzan cherry blossoms in the 2nd and 4th photos.

(Thanks to sciencingsara and fatchance for the botany lesson)!

Georgetown’s Otto Porter to declare for the NBA draft
I think we all saw this coming, and with an almost guaranteed pick in the top 10, it makes the most sense for Otto.
As a Hoya fan, I know that it will be hard not to wonder “what if,” about next season, and “what happened” about the FGCU debacle, but Otto, I was always proud to watch you wear the blue and gray, and I wish you the best in the NBA.

From the weekend: you can dress them up, but be careful putting them around fine china.

(No, nothing was broken, but Hugo was extremely interested in those shiny plates).

Hugo had a great time with our friend Joe at Otto’s birthday party, and is apparently now preparing for his future life as a dentist.

Or an ultimate fighting champion.

It was a very Georgetown weekend, as Liz and I headed to The Diplomatic Ball at the Mellon Auditorium on Friday night, and. 75th birthday mass and party for Otto Hentz on campus yesterday.
