No bike, no problem. It’s great weather for a long jog home.

A glorious day for a run!

We have officially reached the time of year in DC where jogging, cycling, or driving along the Mall becomes one big game of “dodge the tourists.”

Took a late lunch run through the Cherry Blossoms this afternoon. Nice when the smell of the blooms is lovely but the pollen count isn’t ridiculous!

It was far too nice of a day not to go running a lunch, pollen be damned.

Although its getting to the point where sunblock will be necessary soon!

I love my regular runs on the National Mall, but jogging the Brooklyn Bridge is a whole different kind of inspiring.

Lunchtime brought a nice run on the Mall, albeit while dodging raindrops and groups of waterlogged students.

With the brief winter weather subsiding yet again, it was another great day for a lunchtime run in DC!

This unseasonable break (in a winter full of them) made it a lovely day for a lunchtime run. So lovely that I didn’t take a photo and had to find one on the internets.

Sort of amazed at what we accomplished yesterday:

Liz and I are a bit in awe of what yesterday held, on a Saturday, no less:

  • Woke up at 5:30 a.m. and headed out to the Hot Chocolate 15K (which was fairly poorly organized, as many people have noted)
  • Stood in the 35-degree cold for almost 2 hours, waiting for the race that would seemingly never start.
  • Knocked out 9.3 miles (or thereabouts… see above re: poor organization) at a 10:15 per mile pace, without stopping to walk once!  Rewarded with hot chocolate.
  • Zipped home, showered, and headed out to see the Hoyas demolish NJIT, 84-44.
  • Stopped at Michel Richard’s Meatballs restaurant, near the Verizon Center.
  • Walked down to Georgetown Visitation and picked up our Christmas tree, singing carols and carrying it home on our shoulders (this year’s tree is named Claude).
  • Headed out to a 1-year old’s birthday party on Capitol Hill.
  • Came back and went grocery shopping for Liz’s book club hosting today.
  • Cleaned the house, and set up the tree.
  • Collapsed into bed.

It makes me tired just thinking about it, but it’s also a great sense of accomplishment.

Mustaches love hot chocolate.
