Wow, I just had one of the best meatball sandwiches I’ve ever eaten, at the new Red Apron in Union Market. The meatballs were delicious, the bread held up to the meat and sauce without being too tough or too….uh… bready, and the salsa verde is an excellent touch, playing off the sauce and the parmesan in an almost-pesto-but-not-quite vibe!
I also got to swing by Salt & Sundry and pick up Woodberry Kitchen’s “Snake Oil” hot sauce, and to restock my supply of pineapple syrup (a.k.a., liquid gold) at Buffalo & Bergen.
Weekend culinary highlight: these fried green tomato BLT’s.
So delicious, and easy to make, with green tomatoes from the Bear’s Honeypot stand at Union market.
One reason I love having an herb garden on the back porch (in addition to never being more than a lime away from making mojitos), is that it’s really easy to spruce up old standbys for a quick treat.
Like this mozzarella and sharp provolone grilled cheese, with fresh basil and oregano, and a garlic 1/2-sour from Oh! Pickles on the side.
After a long bike ride, I settled in with a delicious Chicken Madness, and watched the Nationals-Red Sox.
A great way to unwind, minus my divided loyalties in the game.
More of today’s deliciousness—an awesome ice cream sandwich from Sugar Magnolia, following an excellent prosciutto and cheese sandwich for an appetizer (umm, I mean, for lunch)!
We’ve been big fans of Ripple’s cookies for awhile, and i must say, they work even better cold and crunchy We decided to go classic (chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream) on the initial stop, but based on the results, there will definitely be another visit soon!

This looks beyond delicious!

I had a delicious steak-and-cheese sandwich (with tots) at Ray’s [to the Third] in Arlington last night.
It is most definitely not a Philly cheesesteak—nor, according to owner Michael Landrum, is it supposed to be—but it is most definitely scrumptious!
Flex day lunches are the best, like visiting Liz on campus and picking up a Chicken Madness from Wisemillers.
