I so love riding through DC at night. Although when I took this shot last Thursday, I soon realized that at this time of year not even 9:30 is late enough to ride the Mall and avoid the tourists.
Oh well, there’s always 7:00 a.m.!

With the brief winter weather subsiding yet again, it was another great day for a lunchtime run in DC!

75 and sunny made it a perfect afternoon for a run on my favorite track. 5.5 miles (from the Capitol to Lincoln and back) made it my second longest non-treadmill run since 2005, and I managed a 10-minute pace throughout.
I also got to run by and marvel at the various DC softball teams with their federal government-related, so-bad-they’re-good, or sometimes just so bad, punny/wonky names.  A few of the highlights:
Elevated Threat (some DHS division)
Too Big Too Fail (SEC, perhaps?)
Kickin’ Ass (I’m guessing the Dems, but I could see it being a GOP team, alternatively),
And from FreedomWorks USA, the Atlas Sluggers.

My lunchtime jogging track—one of the best things about working in downtown DC.
It makes it easy to stay inspired to keep running, and dodging tourists helps with agility training, too!

Two lessons that I learned/remembered on today’s lunch break:
72 and partly cloud is the perfect weather for a run on the National Mall.
After not running outside for 2-3 months, the first time out is a bit of a struggle!

Dropped by the National Mall tonight to see the Rally setup. Looks fun, lots of energy, and a decent number of folks who look to be trying to camp out until the morning!

Another shot from last night’s commute.

Another shot from last night’s commute.

Last night’s commute home (on a Capital Bikeshare bike).  I’d never get sick of this view.

Sunset on the National Mall, II

Sunset on the National Mall, II

Strange things seen on the National Mall — what appeared to be a hip-hop parody video in progress.  Note the colonial wigs, and the giant boombox pillow.
But what kind of video is it? Educational? Political? Tea Party-riffic? Frat-tastic?
Youtubeable? I’d be willing to bet. Though I have no idea what search terms I’d use to find it.  (Let me know if you see it out there on the interwebs).
