“They’re all named for the Pennsylvania Railroad,” says historian Albert Churella of Southern Polytechnic State University, in Georgia, and author of The Pennsylvania Railroad: Volume 1, Building an Empire, 1846–1917. “In small towns, people would not have said, the Pennsylvania Station. They would have just said, the railroad station, or the depot, or what have you. They probably wouldn’t have given it a formal name.”

Dutch Railway Installs a Slide To Get To The Train

It’s officially called a ‘transfer accelerator’ by Dutch railway maintenance company ProRail, but everyone else would say it’s a slide. An awesome slide. Installed next to a stairway at the newly renovated railway station Overvecht in the city of Utrecht, the slide offers travellers the opportunity to quickly reach the railway tracks when they’re in a hurry.

 Among Moscow’s large population of homeless canines, a small minority who frequent or inhabit its metro have attracted international attention due to their having learned how to use the trains to commute to and from various locations.The dogs have learned to cross the street with pedestrians and have been observed obeying traffic lights.
